Valentine’s Day will be coming around again this month which gives us all the chance to nod in agreement with this movie’s title? Yep, love really is crazy and stupid. But somehow, we all yearn for it… yeah, it’s complicated! Something else that’s complicated is how Steve Carell manages to make guys who like to wallow in their own pain likeable and appealing on-screen. Here, he plays Cal (Carell), a husband who’s about to get the shock of his life: his wonderful wife of 25 years (Julianne Moore) is actually cheating on him and wants a divorce. As you can imagine, the whole scenario kicks Cal for six. He tries to get over his pain by frequenting a cocktail lounge each night, marveling at the beauties before him. Enter Jacob (Ryan Gosling) – he’s a self-confessed ladies man and his latest mission entails him showing Cal how to dazzle the ladies once again. Go Cal!
