Many moons ago (well, 1984 to be exact), Kevin Bacon shimmied, shook and sashayed his way into the hearts of many girls as the lead of the iconic Footloose. Now, it’s Kenny Wormald’s chance to step into Ren McCormack’s shoes and dance his way to fame. After his mother dies, Ren takes off to Boston, Massachusetts where he finds himself smack-bang in the middle of a deeply religious town. Bomont is the home of 19,300 people who never enjoy the sound of loud music or any saucy dancing because both have been banned after five teens were killed in a horrific car accident. All of this is music to Reverend Shaw Moore’s (Dennis Quaid) ears – he and his wife Vi (Andie MacDowell) are tough parents who never let their rebellious daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough) too far out of their sight. But since Ren’s arrival, they’ve noticed a change in Ariel and they’re not fans of her sudden turn at all.
