Home New release this week The Whistleblower
The Whistleblower
Tuesday, 03 May 2011 00:00

Based on the true story of police officer Kathryn Bolkovac, there’s no disputing that The Whistleblower is hard-hitting stuff. In fact, there are moments when you’ll want to turn away from the screen. And the action all revolves around a career-defining performance from Rachel Weisz who establishes herself as a major player in Hollywood here. She tackles the role of Bolkovac, a workaholic and mother who’s grief-stricken over losing custody of her daughter. After accepting an offer to join a U.N. peacekeeping mission in Bosnia, she uncovers evidence relating to underage girls being held hostage. Their captors are profiting from a sex trafficking operation but when Bolkovac approaches her superiors and unveils the evidence, she’s ignored. After persisting in an attempt to seek justice, she’s fired. From here, The Whistleblower concentrates on shining a light on those involved and even takes aim (albeit indirectly) at the U.S. government. Enjoy a good thriller? Don’t miss this flick!
